Garden of Learning

Students and parent volunteers visit the garden weekly to participate in a hands-on collaborative lesson which includes grade-appropriate activities that integrate science, math, reading, writing, critical thinking, environmental studies, art, technology, and health.

Our long term garden goal is to continue expanding STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) activities. We plant to touch more on topics such as pollination (with a large focus on bees and butterflies), water conservation (including reclaimed water), beneficial insects (such as butterflies), composting with worms, advantages of organic gardening, and healthy eating and living.

The Valley View Montessori Garden of Learning is a special hands-on educational place where children will learn about the importance of growing food for healthy living, the role of nature and our environment, and gain a better understanding of the natural world and our place within it.
